Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Doctors are primary care physicians in BC. They are trained both in medical science and traditional healing methods. Your naturopathic doctor may order laboratory tests, for example, take time to explain the findings then support you to make diet and lifestyle changes or recommend natural medicines to help with your health condition. Your first visit with a naturopathic doctor at Serenity Health is an hour long because the intake includes going through your entire health history and concerns, investigations and typically starting treatment. Dr. Serena Markham additionally does Bowen therapy and Craniosacral Therapy and Dr. Haji does Bowen therapy.

Dr. Krista Braun ND
Dr. Braun’s practice is family oriented, and she welcomes patients of any age, with any ailment. Being a mom of two school-age kids, the owner of a clinic, and running a fulfilling practice for the past 15 years, Dr. Braun understand what it means to be busy without much time to rest. Dr. Braun’s goal in practice is to support women and their families, to strive for and be inspired to reach their full health potential - and thrive in the busy-ness of their lives…not just survive!
Alongside her general practice, Dr. Braun has a passion in supporting those in peri-menopause and menopause. She understands the complexity of this stage in life for women – from preventing osteoporosis to supporting breast health to aging gracefully without disease. Dr. Braun remains up-to-date in the latest research in this field and has been extensively trained in Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Dr. Braun also takes special interest in digestive issues such as IBS and IBD, thyroid health, immune conditions (inflammatory conditions, auto-immune, allergy and immunodeficiency), pain management, mental health, stress management/adrenal health and healthy aging. As we age, our prevalence of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, chronic pain and other ailments increase, and it is Dr. Braun’s aim to prevent these issues from progressing and restore health.
While studying molecular biology and biochemistry at SFU, Dr. Braun learned an appreciation for science and research. Inspired by her mother who was diagnosed with cancer in her early 40’s, Dr. Braun held a one-year student position at the BC Cancer Research Center doing research with chemotherapy medications and their effectiveness in treating certain cancers in mice. It was here where she realized that the treatment of cancer, or any ailment of the body, is best to come from it’s prevention. To do approach this, one needs to understand how to remove obstacles to health and restore optimal function of the body, rather than focus treatment on the disease. This led Dr. Braun to further her education and start a career in naturopathic medicine.
During her naturopathic studies, Dr. Braun joined a medical brigade in Ometepe, Nicaragua. Although the days were long and the patient line-ups were endless, Dr. Braun saw that healing goes well beyond medication or dietary & lifestyle changes but extends to the need for community and connection. Healing must encompass the whole of a person, body, mind and spirit.
Dr. Braun employs botanical medicine, nutritional supplementation, vitamin injections, acupuncture and cupping, Bowen therapy, diet and lifestyle counselling, pharmaceutical medicine, homeopathy, laboratory testing and pap examinations. Dr. Braun is also certified in both Aesthetic/Cosmetic and Therapeutic Uses for Neuromodulator/Botox injections (migraines, hyperhidrosis, and temporal-mandibular joint dysfunction).
Dr. Braun’s aim as your naturopathic doctor is to search beneath the surface of your health challenges to find and treat the root cause to provide realistic solutions that will heal and prevent future illness. She will give you space and time to freely discuss your health concerns and educate you about your illness and how you can work towards health.
She is dedicated to the practice of assisting patients as they overcome any obstacle to health. Through the stories of her patients, she has come to know that the human body is capable of incredible healing and one’s journey to great health can reach far and beyond their expectations.
Dr. Braun is registered with the Canadian Naturopathic Physicians of BC (CNPBC) and is a member of the BC’s Naturopathic Doctors (BCND).

Danae Harding
(She/Her/Hers)
CNP, NNCP, BSc Kinesiology
Danae always envisioned her career to be within a setting where she could support others along their health journey. She imagined being in a position that encouraged healing and personal growth.
Growing up, Danae was always super active. She basically did it all, but as she got older started focusing on the sport of soccer. Danae played collegiate throughout her university years while studying Sports Sciences, eventually obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria.
During this time, Danae started struggling with her digestion. She felt like she had hit rock bottom and was worried this was going to be her new normal. After many tests and doctors visits, Danae was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease — an auto-immune condition affecting the digestive tract. Upon reflection, she noticed that throughout the diagnosis process diet and nutrition were never mentioned. This seemed strange to her… How could food not impact a gastrointestinal disease? This question was what lead Danae to learn as much as she could about nutrition for managing her disease; soon after she realized this was how she was going to help people feel like their best selves.
She became a Certified Nutritional Practitioner at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, and is now certified with the Canadian Associated of Natural Nutritional Practitioners as a NNCP. Danae has a special interest in topics of digestion, blood sugar management, adrenal and stress support, and easing the menopausal transition. Danae also takes the support she offers to her clients to another level with personalized meal prep delivered right to your door!
When she isn’t practicing nutrition, you can find Danae spending time outside hiking, at the gym lifting weights, hanging out with her two dogs, and of course… In the kitchen whipping up new recipes!
Danae is so excited and ready to share her education and life experiences in a transparent and authentic way. She will help you form healthy and sustainable habits that will become a new way of life.
She knows what it feels like to be at the start of your health journey and understands that it change can be intimidating. She is grateful to be a trusted guide for you on your health journey.

While Ashley’s work is holistic in nature and incorporates a number of therapeutic modalities (such as, solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and narrative therapy), her practice is rooted in the polyvagal theory, which considers how the mind and body are interconnected.
